On Saturday, August 5th, the River City Hurricanes hosted the Evansville Rangers.
A great punt by the Hurricanes pinned the Rangers at their own 1-yard line in the first quarter. The next play, the Hurricanes were up 2-0, and that safety would hold to be the deciding factor of the game.
A defensive battle from the very beginning until the last minute, the Hurricanes were able to defeat the Rangers by the score of 16-14.
A change at the quarterback position and a large increase in the running game, may have been the key to the Hurricanes success and putting offensive points on the board in the second half.
However, ultimately it was the defense that came through for the Hurricanes, stopping the Rangers from converting the 2-point conversion to tie the game at 16-16 with 1:33 to play, and securing the 16-14 victory.
