Boyce Bulldogs 2 - Johnson Royals 1

2-2 Boyce College took the field today at Champions Park in Louisville, Kentucky verse a winless Johnson University (TN) team.  At 0-5 the Royals were an almost guaranteed win.  The Bulldogs dominated the first 30 minutes of play and went up 1-0 thanks to #10 Jorge Saucedo sliding the ball under the Royals diving goalkeeper on a deflected shot.  However, the Royals did not back down and were able to equalize before the half.  With a 1-1 score at the half, it was apparent that this was not going to be the "walk in the park" that the Bulldogs had expected.

Having only scored 6 goals in 5 games, the Royals have failed to even come from behind and claim a draw, and the same thing happened today.  Midway through the 2nd half the Bulldogs went up 2-1 on the visiting Royals thanks to another score by #10 Jorge Saucedo, and that would be the final.  The Royals did have a strong push during stoppage time at the end of the game.  Goalkeeper #0 Chad Hunter took a Royals knee to the face while sacrificing himself to prevent the equalizer from Johnson University, but it simply wasn't meant to be.

The Bulldogs improved to 3-2 on the season and 2-0 in conference play.  The Bulldogs will play conference rival Kentucky Christian University on Saturday, September 19th at 4:00pm at Champions Park in Louisville, Kentucky.
