Jim Porters Before Demolition

The 18,000 square-foot building on Lexington Road in Louisville, Kentucky once known as Jim Porters "Good Time Emporium" opened in 1990.  Sadly, as of June 1st, 2015 the building that housed one of Louisville's most successful nightclubs closed its doors for good, after 25 years.

We spoke with previous Owner, Ben Rogers.  He told us, "while trying to run a cash only business 'pulling the plug' was the only option I had.  Because of some safety and liability concerns being issued after a closing warning, it seemed like the best thing to do.  I sincerely apologized to the staff and entertainers for the abrupt manner in which we closed down, but it was what had to be done."

Demolition started on the abandoned building last week.  With almost all of the property leveled, another landmark exits the City of Louisville, Kentucky.  We captured these photographs just before crews started demolition.
