KCD upsets South Oldham 2-0

Kentucky Country Day Field Hockey upset South Oldham on Thursday, September 12th by the score of 2-0.

A very hard-fought first half had the scoreboard locked at 0-0 after thirty minutes of play. With neither offense really getting a good look at the goal, the majority of the first half was played in midfield.

However, KCD would score within the first five minutes of the second half, taking the 1-0 lead with 25:14 to play.

KCD would then score again within five minutes to make the score 2-0 with 20:29 to play. Aside from one breakaway shot that went wide, South Oldham's offense had been non-existent the last seven minutes of the game.

With 15:11 remaining and the score still 2-0 in favor of KCD, South Oldham was getting the offensive push that they needed to score. However, every single shot was either wide or easily blocked by the KCD Goalie, #99 Kyla Cooke.

With less than 3:00 to play, South Oldham was awarded numerous corners that they kept coming up short on. It looked as though the game was going to be at least a 2-1 outcome with the number of corners and opportunities that South Oldham was getting.

But, as time expired, the scoreboard still read 2-0 in favor of KCD.

The KCD Lady Bearcats upset South Oldham by the final score of 2-0. KCD improved to 6-4 overall, and South Oldham fell to 5-4 overall. South Oldham's Goalie, #95 Kate Stephens had not been scored on in the last 5 games (since August 24th vs Sacred Heart). South Oldham had outscored their last five opponents 43-0 and traveled to KCD to keep the streak alive.

That streak came to a close tonight at the hands of the KCD Lady Bearcats.
