East End Warriors Juniors Shutout Patriots

On Saturday, August 29th, 2015 the East End Warriors Junior team traveled to Thomas Jefferson Middle School to face the Louisville Patriots.

The first half was a defensive battle with neither team scoring at all.  Both teams struggled with penalties and trying to recover from those penalties with 3rd & 20 and 4th & 15 becoming the normal thing throughout the first half.

The second half didn't start off much better.  It wasn't until #17 Lantz made the sack for the Warriors on 4th and 20 and forced a turnover on downs.  Two plays later #24 Jones took the ball over 70 yards to break the scoreless cycle with 2:17 left in the 3rd quarter.  The Patriots came onto the field on the next possesion and did the work for the defense, putting themselves in a 4th & 31 after unnessesary penalties.  #7 Marshall then found the endzone on the next series, making the score 12-0 with 6:56 to play.

The Patriots then changed up their entire game plan, going to the air.  #24 Jones broke up almost all the passes on the series as the Warriors took over on the Patriots 40.  It only took one play after that for the Warriors.  #7 Marshall received the handoff on 1st & 10 and took it to the house to make the score 18-0 with just over 3:00 to play.

The Patriots again, went to the air in an attempt to gain big yardage, but this time #24 Jones was ready.  Jones intercepted the pass on 4th down and returned it for a Warrior touchdown.  The clock then continued to run as the mercy rule went into effect.

With 2:00 to play, #19 Vrbancic lined up his Warriors for kickoff.  Vrbancic kicked an onside kick that hit off a Patriots helmet and was recovered by Warrior #66 Wells near midfield.  The Warriors took the field and took their time as the continuos clock quickly ran out on the Patriots.  The Junior Warriors went into the Patriots house and shut them out 24-0.
